Manuela Schuksz, MD PhD is a board certified vascular surgeon with James River Cardiology in Colonial Heights, VA. Dr. Schuksz completed the Medical Scientist Training Program at University of California in San Diego, graduating with a PhD in glycobiology in 2009 and an MD in 2011. She subsequently completed an integrated vascular surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts, graduating in 2016. In 2017, she obtained board certification in vascular surgery.
As a vascular surgeon Dr. Schuksz treats a multitude of vascular conditions, including carotid artery disease, aneurysmal disease, varicose veins as well as vascular access creation. However, she has a special interest in peripheral arterial disease and limb salvage. Dr. Schuksz specializes in minimally invasive interventions while also being able to provide traditional surgical approaches depending on patient need. She is excited to provide comprehensive and compassionate vascular care to the Colonial Heights area.
Dr. Schuksz currently resides in Hampton, VA with her husband Lars and their dog, Ella. She enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, gardening or just relaxing by the water. On a day off you can often find her in the kitchen, as cooking - and eating! - is one of her passions.
