James River Cardiology, a leading provider of quality cardiovascular care throughout Virginia, announced today that Dr. Shaival Kapadia, a highly respected leader in the cardiology and medical community for over 20 years, has joined the growing practice and will begin partnering with patients on their cardiovascular journey toward optimal health in January 2021.

Dr. Kapadia has earned “Top Doc” status for decades as a result of his dedication to precision medicine that is personalized and participatory. “Throughout Dr. Kapadia’s career as a practicing physician and as an entrepreneur, he has strived to create a connected cardiovascular care model,” said Dr. Mitesh Amin, who founded James River Cardiology in 2010. “While the heart of his practice at James River Cardiology will be care of patients with general cardiology needs, Dr. Kapadia will work together with our growing team to enhance the patient experience and to extend care beyond the four walls of the clinic using digital tools.”

James River Cardiology is a full-service cardiology practice serving Richmond and the Tri-Cities region, as well as several rural locations along the southern border of Virginia (Franklin, Emporia, and Lawrenceville). Dr. Kapadia will be based primarily at the Ashlake Medical Center off Hull Street in Chesterfield but will also see patients at the practice’s Colonial Heights office.

Dr. Kapadia received his medical degree from the University of Virginia and then completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiology at Brown University at Rhode Island Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease. In addition to his direct patient care efforts over decades, Dr. Kapadia co-founded two innovative startups, Iggbo and C3Nexus, dedicated to delivering the right care at the right time and place. He is currently an advisor for Monj, a digital health startup based out of the Bay Area, and serves on the advisory board for GoMo Health, a patient engagement platform. Throughout Dr. Kapadia’s career, he has worked to bring a data-driven, technology-enabled and team-based approach to redefine the way care is delivered.

“Patients often think of the stethoscope as the first tool in a provider’s toolkit. In reality, it’s listening without a stethoscope. Listing to what a patient has to say is what creates connection. And connection creates healthier lives. I look forward to listening to the patients at James River Cardiology as we create a journey together toward better health,” said Dr. Kapadia.
