Raahat Bansal, M.D.

(Interventional)

Dr. Raahat Bansal is a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist. He brings specialized expertise in complex coronary interventions, structural heart procedures, and endovascular and peripheral interventions to the practice.

 

Dr. Bansal earned his M.B.B.S. from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Creighton University, followed by a Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship at West Virginia University. He will be completing his Interventional Cardiology fellowship at University of Illinois at Chicago prior to starting at James River Cardiology.

 

He is board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease (ABIM) and Internal Medicine (ABIM), with additional certifications in Echocardiography (ASE Level 2) and Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC Level 2). He is board-eligible in Cardiac Imaging and Interventional Cardiology.

 

Dr. Bansal is highly skilled in all aspects of percutaneous coronary intervention, including complex PCI, atherectomy, mechanical circulatory support, and chronic total occlusions. He also has extensive experience in complex arterial and venous endovascular interventions (carotid, subclavian, renal, and lower extremity), including PTAB (percutaneous transmural arterial bypass) and limb salvage. His expertise further includes peripheral venous procedures, DVT/PE interventions, structural heart interventions (PFO and ASD closure, TAVR), and advanced imaging (TEE, ICE, cardiac CT, and nuclear cardiology).

 

An accomplished researcher and educator, Dr. Bansal has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at national conferences, including ACC and SCAI. He is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, American Society of Echocardiography, and Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.

 

Dr. Bansal is fluent in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu. He is excited to bring his advanced interventional skills and compassionate, patient-centered approach to the Richmond region.
