Shawn Reid, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Shawn Reid is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of nursing experience, including over 16 years in acute care, critical care, emergency medicine, flight nursing, and cardiovascular care. His clinical background gives him extensive experience caring for patients with complex medical needs and managing cardiovascular disease across a variety of care settings.

Prior to joining James River Cardiology, Shawn worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner with Commonwealth Primary Care, where he provided comprehensive patient-centered care including advanced assessments, diagnosis, treatment, documentation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. His previous experience also includes serving as a Flight Nurse with UVA Health, a Critical Care Transport Nurse with Bon Secours, and a Clinical Coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Shawn earned his Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Walden University and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Liberty University, graduating summa cum laude. He also completed his initial nursing education through Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing.

At James River Cardiology, Shawn is focused on providing thoughtful, evidence-based cardiovascular care while helping patients better understand their conditions and treatment options. His broad clinical background, strong assessment skills, and commitment to patient education allow him to provide comprehensive support to patients throughout their cardiovascular care journey.
